If you missed The Relatives last month as part of Bridge-o-Rama, you’ve been granted another divine chance to see the light. The West Dallas gospel-funk group put on a marathon set that day, filled with songs from 2009’s Heavy Light Records retrospective, Don’t Let Me Fall, as well as a new song, which means the possibility of a new album. Hopefully this also means they’ll be playing here more often. Add Dallas singer/producer/KKDA-AM Soul 73 fixture/R&B legend Bobby Patterson to the bill, and saying this might be the local show of the year doesn’t seem like a stretch.
