Todd Barry isn’t a musician by trade, but he’s alive at a time when music and comedy have become increasingly compatible, and the line between music and stand-up venues has been erased. Parade of Flesh has started the trend locally, bringing Barry to the historic Deep Ellum venue, followed by comedians Alan Resnick in June and Rob Delaney in September. Barry’s delivery, used to maximum effect in his many TV cameos, is dry and casual, but there’s a sharp intelligence underneath that fits the new comedy medium known as Twitter quite well, which may be why these kinds of shows can cross-pollinate. He’s also probably the only modern comedian with a joke about Fugazi. Janelle James and former Dallasite Mark Agee opens.
