As we noted a few months back, Dallas-based folk rocker Ronnie Fauss landed himself a pretty sweet record deal. The release of his album, I Am The Man You Know I'm Not on the New West imprint Normaltown Records is nigh upon us, and a few songs are starting to leak out prior to the full-length's release on October 9.
One of the songs is an amped-up take on the best song from Fauss' debut EP New Songs For the Old Frontier. "Night Before The War" is a great example of his ability to shine as a storyteller. Given that he counts folk legends such as John Prine, Kris Kristofferson and even Todd Snider as major influences, it's easy to see where he began to develop his style of writing.
Fauss and the folks at Normaltown have been kind enough to give DC9 readers this very free and legal tune as a hint of what to expect from the album when it finally arrives.
