St. Vincent’s got a different kind of 401k. (CLASH Magazine)

…OK, not really. But Dallas-bred singer-songwriter Annie Clark does make that joke in this lengthy New York Times Magazine piece about (inset epic reverberating voice-over) “The Return of the One-Man Band!”

The piece, written by John Wray for yesterday’s NYT Mag, uses namely three artists–Final Fantasy, Panda Bear and Clark’s St. Vincent–to prove the point that the one-man band has returned to popularity. Clark’s contribution, essentially, is to say that the Internet Age and the advancement of computer technology has allowed artists to “maximize” their sound.

In other news, the Times sure lurves them some DFW right about now, huh? Well, we think you’re pretty OK, too, New York. And, hey, since we’re all tight and stuff now, take care of Marcus, for us, k? Thanks! TTYL! —Pete Freedman
