When this next week’s Observer is distributed around the Metroplex, our stand on the new disc from the Denton-based Midlake, The Courage of Others, which is due out statesdide on February 2,  will be made known. But plenty of others have already made their positions on the new, darker disc from the five-piece available for your reading–some have been positive, others not so much.

National Public Radio’s doing everyone a solid, though, allowing eager listeners to stream the album in its entirety under the banner of the company’s “First Listen” feature.

Check it out. But, consider yourselves warned: There will be flutes.
