I’ll admit it: Tendril was one of those bands I always saw listed in club schedules but never saw. Well, sometimes I saw them packing up their gear as they left the stage before another band played. Sometimes I heard the last song or two. But it took someone booking them between two bands I liked for me to finally see a full set by Tendril. And I immediately regretted every show I missed. Tendril is a band with tremendous force that hits with a wall of sound packing raw pain and sci-fi imagery. The dual vocals of Duane Deering and Darren Paul play off each other without interfering, and they become instruments layered with the pounding bass and drums and heavy guitars. Tendril falls into the realms of metal, punk and hard rock without being any of those. Catch them this week, or you’ll regret it later.
