The All-American Rejects are bringing their pop-up show to Dallas.

After celebrating their new single “Sandbox” with a free show for a college radio station at the University of Southern California, they’ve been criss-crossing across the country and bringing their performances to unconventional venues.

“We wanted to do something that was as far away from the Los Angeles industry crowd as possible,” frontman Tyson Ritter tells Vulture. “We did a show the night before at this place called No Vacancy. It felt bad. It’s the reason why artists often hate playing in Los Angeles, because it’s such an industry-driven town — the guest lists on those things end up turning into a bunch of suits. So we played this pop-up at USC and tapped into a crowd that wanted to come to a free show. The night was so cinematic.”

They’ve called it the House Party Tour, trying to disrupt live music by getting crowds who are engaged and connecting with them on a pure level. They played at backyards, a farm and a bowling alley, crowdsourcing suggestions from fans on social media on where to next.

The band has made it to Texas, specifically landing in Dallas for their next stop. On TikTok, they announced a contest for the best video that used “Easy Come, Easy Go,” their second new single, as the soundtrack. Three hundred fifty tickets are available, and selected contest winners receive a free flight out to the location with their plus ones.

So far, AAR says it has spent $50,000 of its own money to fund the tour, pay its crew and rent its tour bus.

Putting AAR back inside house parties again is a roaring success. It embodies the spirit of rock and roll, bringing the stripped-down DIY approach to rock shows for a free and affordable price point. Usually, the location is revealed hours before the show starts. You can follow them on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and receive a text with the exact venue location when the concert is near you.

If you want the All-American Rejects in your backyard, you can fill out a form to submit your space.

The band will also be doing a limited tour-only edition vinyl signing at Good Records on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. Come and get Sandbox early.
