It was a cold, dark winter for Dallas. With no slopes within hundreds of miles, we’re left with little to do when the temperatures drop. And for concert regulars, the off-season is especially grim. But spring is upon us, and our March calendars are filled with big red circles around the days of some of our most exciting tour stops in Big D.
As Dallas goes from practically no shows at all to a buzzy concert on the schedule almost every night, it’s hard to keep it all straight. And we know better than anyone that there’s nothing worse than realizing an artist you love was in town until it’s too late. So, we’ve taken the time to check the calendars of almost every big venue in town and compile a list of shows we wouldn’t want to miss this month.
We start off March strong, and we end it that way, too. Major arena shows dominate the first week of the month, with more versatile offerings in the middle, before ending just as good as we started. See for yourself below.
March 1
Lady Gaga at Dickies Arena
Mother Monster returns. Gaga is playing two shows at Dickies Arena as part of her Mayhem Ball Tour. Tickets sold out early, but resale seats are still available at resale prices. But to see the Italian girl from New York? It might be worth it.
March 3
Nine Inch Nails at the American Airlines Center
Trent Reznor must really love Dallas, because this is the second time the musician has brought his band to North Texas on the Peel It Back Tour. We’re not complaining. In fact, keep it coming — add a third show, even.
March 5
Blood Orange at the Bomb Factory
Blood Orange has been an exciting, genre-bending act for a long time, and we’re grateful Dev Hynes is finally getting flowers. Mostly because it means we get to see the performer live. We’re going to dance until our feet bleed orange.
March 6
Bob Schneider at the Kessler Theater
A Texas music legend in a historic Texas theater. What more could you ask for? Tickets start at $36.
March 7
Cardi B at the American Airlines Center
Grab a bucket and a mop… or just your dancing shoes (the ones that look like socks) to the Little Miss Drama Tour. But be prepared to make money moves — even nosebleeds are pricey.
Rich Brian at the Bomb Factory
The cult favorite Indonesian rapper is bringing his signature monotone delivery to the Bomb Factory. Tickets start at $46.
March 8
Sabrina Claudio at Echo Lounge and Music Hall
R&B artist Sabrina Claudio is coming to the Echo Lounge as part of the Fall In Love With Her Tour to play smooth tunes and, well, make people fall in love.
March 10
Conan Gray at Dickies Arena
Conan Gray was raised in Texas and never skips home on his tours. The Wishbone World Tour is no different. He’ll be joined by Esha Tewari for this Fort Worth show.
Scoochie Boochie at Club Dada
According to his website, the artist is the best rapper in the United States. With songs like “I Have Sex” and “I Still Have Sex,” we’ll just have to take his word for it. But you can find out for yourself.
March 12
The Desk Jockeys at Sundown at Granada
We wouldn’t be observers if we didn’t put you on to your next favorite local artist. The Desk Jockeys are a local jam band and their shows are as equally fun as they are good. Tickets are just under $20.
March 13
Paul Wall at Billy Bob’s Texas
Paul Wall is known for grills in many forms: his Grammy-nominated song with rapper Nelly, his own collection of lavish grills, and the six-figure custom grills he designs as his day job. Don’t forget to wear your diamonds.
Peter McPoland at Tanahill’s Tavern and Music Hall
TikTok indie boy and native Texan, Peter McPoland, is playing two shows in North Texas. If Paul Wall is too enticing to miss, you can catch McPoland at the Echo House Lounge and Music Hall on the 14th.
March 14
Ella Red at the House of Blues
Local pop princess Ella Red is playing one of her biggest shows as of late at the Cambridge Room at House of Blues.
March 18
Robert Plant at the Majestic Theatre
If there’s any once-in-a-lifetime show on this list, it’s this one. The former lead singer of Led Zeppelin is joined by band Saving Grace, Suzi Dian and Rosie Flores. Plant is known to play Led Zeppelin classics on his personal tours, and who knows, he may even share some anecdotes from his time in one of the best-selling bands of all time.
March 19
WITCHZ at the Bomb Factory
Cyberpunk goth meets EDM in WITCHZ music. The experimental sounds are paired with mesmerising light shows, so it’s kind of like two shows in one, really. General admission tickets are $35.
Onslaught and Warlord at Trees Dallas
Metal bands Onslaught and Warlord are touring North America for the first time ever, despite making music for more than 80 combined years — it’s never too late. This show will likely be a must-see. And likely very loud, too.
March 20
Wednesday at Granada Theater
Southern rock hasn’t been this good since the Allman Brothers Band stopped touring. Recording member and ex-boyfriend of the lead singer, MJ Lenderman, won’t be there. It’s their first tour without him.
Miguel at Toyota Music Factory
This one is going to be quite a hot show, and we’re not talking about the weather.
March 22
Hudson Freeman at Club Dada
Dallas-raised folk artist Hudson Freeman went viral on TikTok for the catchy riff in his hit single “If You Know Me.” It’s so good, and so catchy, that even John Mayer decided to give it a spin on his Instagram story. You don’t want to miss this show because Freeman is about to be the next artist we’re proud to claim when he’s accepting a Grammy one day.
March 23
Rainbow Kitten Surprise at the Bomb Factory
Dads have been listening to Rainbow Kitten Surprise since they first hit the rock scene in 2013, but their career was reinvigorated when the lyricism of frontwoman Ela Melo struck a particular chord during the pandemic. Unfortunately for the dads, this one is a Monday show.
March 25
Dogma at Trees Dallas
Sexy lady nuns with electric guitars and rage. What more do you need to know? Tickets are $26.
March 26
Six Sex at the Cambridge Room at House of Blues Dallas
Argentinian reggaeton artist Six Sex is bringing perreo, or the Latin American dance equivalent of the twerk, to the smaller stage at the House of Blues. If you loved the Super Bowl Halftime Show, well then you’ll really love this.
March 28
La Mafia at Longhorn Backyard Amphitheater
This show is going to be great for many reasons. One of the primary reasons, though, is that it’s the grand opening of the Longhorn Backyard, a sister amphitheater venue to the iconic Longhorn Ballroom.
March 31
The Neighbourhood at Dickies Arena
Tumblr, as we once knew it, is pretty much dead, but never dead in our hearts, and will surely be briefly revived at this month-closing show in Fort Worth. Relive your teenage years to the national anthems of angst.
