Mind Spiders, Lenguas Largas, Occult Detective Club Monday, October 8, at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios When Mind Spiders' front man Mark Ryan transitioned from the studio to a live band in 2010, it was a breath of fresh air for the DFW punk scene. Since then, he's steered clear of the one-man show, and slapped together a band of some of the best musicians in the area, including bassist Daniel Fried and drummer Greg Rutherford of Bad Sports. In an effort to preserve the lo-fi, garage rock sound, Mark Ryan home-recorded Mind Spiders' second and most recent album, Meltdown, released on Dirtnap Records earlier this year.
Screaming Females Monday, October 8, at Dada Since the May release of their fifth full-length album, Ugly, produced by mastermind Steve Albini, Screaming Females have been on a tour of the North, West and Midwest for the better part of two months, including a few stops in Canada. In a surprising, last-minute blog post on the band's website this morning, Screaming Females announced that lead singer Marissa Paternoster has fallen ill with mononucleosis, and "has been experiencing severe chronic pains that have rendered it very difficult for Screaming Females to tour." The New Jersey trio have canceled all of their tour dates after their October 10 show with Garbage in Austin. Better catch them in Dallas tonight while you can, and get there early for the Chloes and War Party.
