This is not your everyday Billboard chart. Each week, we'll tell you which bands are selling in the fine record shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where we consumers of music have impeccable taste.

Record Store Day was a great success and brought outstanding numbers to last week's top-selling albums, including a special 7-inch featuring local favorites Sarah Jaffe with the Toadies.

"Everything on our Top 20 for last week has one thing in common; they are all Record Store Day releases that came out last Saturday," says Lance Price, CD Source owner. "Record Store Day continues to grow every year and took a giant leap this year with over 300 special releases. We had a long line wrapped around the corner when we opened up at 7 and continued to have people streaming in all day long. Many customers were very excited when they found what they were looking for with lots of them raising the albums up in excitement."

Price says that while some of the titles were so limited CD Source only got one or a few copies, others were received in much larger quantities. "We still have a good amount on hand at the store of a number of the Record Store Day titles and just got some back in today," Price says. "We had many terrific and talented local bands play almost the entire day representing a number of different genres. They brought out many of their fans."

The local bands that graced fans with their presence each had its own unique way of performing for the crowd. "The Fox and the Bird played a couple of songs in the middle of the store while The Venetian Sailors drove up playing in the back of a pickup," Price says. "Home By Hovercraft featured an outstanding Irish dancer. Quentin Moore sang a traditional 'Happy Birthday' to Emmeline, who preceded him. Then Quentin in his very soulful voice jazzed it up and sang Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday' to her. We also had food from nearby restaurants. All in all it was a very enjoyable day."

Mark Church, sales associate at Good Records, was also pleased by the outcome of last week's Record Store Day releases. "It is no surprise that nearly all of this week's Top Ten is made up of Record Store Day Releases," Church says. "There were many good releases out this year. Thanks to everyone who came out and made this year a big success for our 13th Birthday/Record Store Day festivities."
