Turns out that the Bilal video directed by Flying Lotus and starring Erykah Badu that we shared with you exactly a week ago today was, indeed, just a precursor to the anticipated music video direction that we'd anticipated Flying Lotus provide a Badu track.

And "Gone Baby, Don't Be Long," the second video from Badu's New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh after her controversial "Window Seat" video (and not counting "Window Seat, Part II," which features Rick Ross and was given a video treatment despite not appearing on the disc), is every bit the visual trip we'd been expecting, featuring Badu rolling down a moving walkway (or is it an assembly line?) in a trippy illustrated futuristic setting. It's a fitting visual for one of New Amerykah, Part II's best tracks, for sure.

Give the clip a watch after the jump.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
