Butthole Surfers at the Granada Theater on Friday, Oct. 30
I just realized Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary and I went to the same college (20 years apart, mind you). That's kinda strange, considering the guy who voiced Barney the big purple dinosaur also graduated from Trinity University. There's got to be some apocalyptic meaning in there somewhere...

Hanson at House of Blues on Sunday, Nov. 1
What better way to follow up the Butthole Surfers than with a little Hanson? Don't roll your eyes at me. The trio of brothers played House of Blues Sunday night. According to Carli, they've got some talent going for them.

Cobra Starship at Nokia Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 31
The hot mess that gave us "Snakes on a Plane" and "Good Girls Go Bad" (Leighton Meester, you're no Miley Cyrus) shook it at Nokia on Halloween.

Owl City, House of Blues, Thursday, Oct. 29
And to wrap up this weird edition of Weekend Roundup (because I'm secretly a sap--don't tell anyone), here's a clip of a guy popping the question to his girlfriend on stage during the Owl City concert on Thursday at HOB. No music on this one, just a whole lotta love.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
