Taylor Swift at American Airlines Center on Friday, September 25
Taylor Swift and an arena of teenage girls and their secretly eager dads (hey, T-Swift is legal!) sang along to her ballads about boys, broken hearts, white horses and all that schmoopy stuff Friday night at the AAC. OK, maybe she isn't my favorite, but I'm not alone. More interesting than Swift's acoustic version of "White Horse" is the behind-the-camera conversation here:

Girl #1: "I don't like it."
Girl #2: "Are you kidding me?"

...and, scene!

Jamie Foxx at Grand Prairie's Nokia Theatre on Saturday, September 26
If you need something a bit stronger this morning (say, white wine vs. whiskey), look no further. Terrell native Jamie Foxx brought two nights of booty-shaking to Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie over the weekend. Who loves you?

Birds of Avalon at The Lounge on Elm Street on Saturday, September 26
Birds of Avalon headlined at The Lounge on Saturday night. The Raleigh, North Carolina,  prog-rock/psychedelic band has toured with The Flaming Lips and Jack White's Raconteurs. Slip on your headphones and turn up the volume for "I Never Knew."

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
