Some interesting Will Johnson news pouring in this week, as the Centro-matic frontman’s keeping himself quite busy these days.
Just a couple nights ago, in fact, a little birdie told me that Johnson, always the busy touring musician, is the newest addition to the Monsters of Folk lineup, joining in and playing drums in the touring lineup behind a killer lineup of contemporary folk powerhouses Jim James, Conor Oberst, M. Ward and Oberst’s producer, Mike Mogis. Well, yesterday, the Austin Chronicle confirmed as much in a short blog item catching up with Johnson. Also, in the blurb, the Chronicle passes along the news that Johnson’s also working with James on a project with Jay Farrar, in which the musicians are re-imagining a slate of Woody Guthrie tunes. And, just in case that weren’t enough, we also now know that Johnson’s collaborative project with Magnolia Electric Co.’s Jason Molina will see a November release…
