Wolf Eyes is the sound of mangled electronics past the point of repair: crackling, rumbling and smoking wires spewing noxious odes to decay, repressed emotions and the inhuman condition. No wonder Sub Pop was so eager to snatch them up! Last year’s Burned Mind was probably the most adventurous release in the label’s long and storied history. Wolf Eyes’ own lineage includes scores of limited-run cassette and CD-R releases on their possessed yet surprisingly artful romp through the fetid minefield of classic noise merchants such as Whitehouse, Throbbing Gristle and Merzbow. Rumor has it band honcho and Detroit native Nathan Young builds his own noisemakers. How else to account for this Motown trainwreck?
