A New Plan

Vinnie Paul's got a new project. Bet ya, like, 10 bucks that it rocks. Hard.

To our dedicated blog-metal audience, we giveth unto you this: a new Vinnie Paul band.

The Fort Worth Weeklyhinted at it

nearly two months ago, but

Blabbermouth.net

confirmed this week that the former Pantera and Damageplan drummer is now banging sticks with members of Mudvayne and Nothingface. At first glance, we can't help but be reminded of another metal "supergroup" assembled around a Pantera member, Phil Anselmo's Down; their sludgier take on Sabbath wasn't too shabby, really, so VP's chances are pretty good with this new as-yet-unnamed band. One site suggests the name

"Pan Damage Mud Nothing"

...we can't think of much better than that.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
