If I were planning on attending the Austin City Limits Music Festival down in Austin, I might care that the White Stripes yesterday canceled their Saturday performance, citing “medical reasons.” But my disappointment would be just as quickly dispatched by my elation that a Dallas girl’s been added to the schedule.
Yesterday, Annie Clark’s publicist sent word that the Lake Highlands gal better known as St. Vincent will be performing on Saturday at 4 p.m., which makes sense, as Clark was already scheduled to play Austin that night at the Mohawk. (She’ll be in Dallas Friday night at the Granada Theater, opening for The National. I’m in.) Besides, you need some White Stripes, there’s plenty available — like, oh, this in-concert performance of “Cannon” off The White Stripes. And here’s Annie performing the Jackson Browne-penned “These Days,” made famous by Nico. –Robert Wilonsky
