CNN’s Rick Sanchez

Irving, you just knew this was bound to happen, right? First Farmers Branch got the national spotlight in May, when the Today show brought its cameras to capture the fight over Ordinance 2903. Now, CNN’s in Irving — specifically, anchor-reporter Rick Sanchez, who tonight will broadcast live from the ‘burb known for two things: hosting the Dallas Cowboys for a few more years and giving illegal immigrants their deportation papers.

Writes CNN’s spokesperson in a missive to Unfair Park: Sanchez is here to “interview illegal immigrants and city officials on both sides of the debate over recent stepped up immigration enforcement. He will also speak with business leaders on the economic impact of enforcement efforts.” And he’ll interview former Mexican President Vicente Fox. It’s for a special titled Out in the Open, which is scheduled to air on CNN tonight at 7 locally. –Robert Wilonsky
