Nearly every one of Dallas City Council’s seats was up for grabs on Saturday as voters hit the polls. Early voting results, although it was an incredibly small amount, suggested there wouldn't be too many upsets in the races where an incumbent was running. For Place 14, there wasn’t any drama at any point, since incumbent Paul Ridley ran unopposed.

According to unofficial results, with 100% of polls reporting, the incumbents' early leads have held. However, a couple of the open seats appear to be headed to a runoff, with no candidates from Places 8 and 11 reaching 50% of the vote.

Many of the biggest issues the council has faced over the past two years have been settled, including the hiring of a new city manager, police chief and fire chief. Those major needs have been filled, but over the next two years, there will be no shortage of urgent issues facing council members old and new. The ongoing short-term rental battle, parking reform and the continued adjusting to life with controversial new city charter amendments requiring a dramatically larger police force and allowing the city to be sued are but a few challenges waiting for the council when it begins its newest term.

Local polls closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday. According to unofficial totals from the Dallas County Elections Department early Sunday morning, 117,577 votes were cast for this election, out of more than 1.4 million registered voters in Dallas.

Here's where the races for Dallas City Council stand on Sunday morning, according to the unofficial vote totals with 100% of vote centers reporting:
