It's still a bit too early for Santa sightings, so we don't blame the pilots who were apparently confused when they saw something unexpected streaking through the skies as they neared the Dallas area on Nov. 30.
On Wednesday, The Daily Mail posted audio of "baffled pilots" describing some curious sights in the sky to air traffic control.
"We are following these two lights that are up above us that are kind of jogging back-and-forth, left and right, for the past, like, half hour," an American Airlines pilot says in the audio clip. The article notes that a Spirit Airlines pilot described a similar observation. The air traffic controller, on the other hand, didn't have a clue what the pilots were talking about. His radar, apparently, was spotless.
"Fort Worth ATC checked in with the U.S. Air Force about possible activity over two, nearby 'military operations areas' (MOAs) — at the pilot's behest — but neither MOA had craft in the skies that night, as confirmed on radar," The Daily Mail reported.
One of the pilots can be heard describing how the moving, lighted objects changed speeds and "split positions."
Also mentioned in the story is that video clips from near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on the same night as the confused pilot calls reveal streaking lights descending from the sky. Such clips started making their way around Reddit, TikTok and other social media sites pretty quickly, leading people to begin questioning what they had just seen, just as the aforementioned pilots had.
The flights each continued without further incident, and there have been no updates about what the pilots may have seen.
"After their half-hour long UFO encounter, this American Airlines flight landed in Dallas-Fort Worth around 9:42pm local time," the report added.
This isn't the only recent example of people near DFW International Airport spotting something curious in the sky. A few days before this case, on Nov. 25, Reddit users shared video of a streaking green-ish light suddenly appearing mid-air in a post titled "Caught a meteor on dashcam just north of DFW Airport."
One Reddit user wasn't so sure it was a meteor, however, commenting "the real aliens have arrived."
