David Kattner, the longtime Dallas police officer accused of sexually assaulting prostitutes, has been found dead in his Little Elm home. WFAA reports that he was found by his wife after a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Kattner was arrested December 21 after detectives saw his alleged victim get out of Kattner’s car. She told police that he’d threatened her with arrest and harm to her daughter if she didn’t do what he wanted — perform oral sex on Kattner while his hand was on his gun.
Kattner was part of a group of officers that sued D Magazine for defamation after a 2007 article accused them of issuing tickets to prostitutes and the homeless for offenses they didn’t commit. When the people the tickets were issued to didn’t show up to court or pay their fines, they were often picked up on felony charges. D won the lawsuit.
