Help us decide, please: Is this cover of the Commodores’ “Easy,” performed Tuesday night on America’s Got Talent by Cas Haley of Dallas Observer Music Awards-nominated Woodbelly, great? Or is it not great? Or would be be great it if were performed ironically? Or does the obvious sincerity — he listened to the song with his mom and dedicated it in the memory of a “close friend” — elevate it to greatness? Or would be it be great if Haley stopped performing every cover song on that show the exact same way — like he’s playing a reggae-themed bar mitzvah party? Discuss. –Robert Wilonsky
