On this shapin-up-to-be picture-perfect roll-down-the-windows weekend, some classic classic rock: Foghat live in ’74. Which means it’s pre-Fool for the City — so, sorry, no “Slow Ride.” But even better: Following last week’s trip over some Little Feat at the Dallas Convention Center Theater, yet another radio broadcast — this one from WPLR in Connecticut.
So, then, the local tie? The jock may have been in New Haven, but the band was right here: at the legendary January Sound Studio, which explains why the thing sounds like it should have been officially released. Seriously: maybe the best version of “I Just Want to Make Love to You” I’ve ever heard, better even than the official ’77 live double-platinum platter. (
