I’ve been a little busy filling out an NCAA Tournament bracket you can cheat off of (long as we split the pot, cool?). But either I missed something or uncovered something, because it sure looks, feels, smells and sounds like Nellie’s Sports Bar has gone the way of Medici and the Hard Rock Cafe. As in, the sucker’s kaput.

When I went to Winger — I know, I still can’t believe it either — last Thursday night, I noticed former coach Don Nelson’s joint just south of downtown didn’t have any customers, or, for that matter, signs or lights. Yesterday evening, I finally got around to calling and, shr’nuff, the number’s been disconnected. If us Dallasites stopped patronizing his bar soon as he up and went to Golden State, maybe that would explain why his Warriors played with such pissed-off vengeance Monday night. –Richie Whitt
