As Sam pointed out in February 2007, when he covered Tom Leppert's mayoral campaign kick-off at St. Philip's School in South Dallas, Roger Staubach served as his campaign co-chair alongside Elaine Agather. But Staubach couldn't make it four years back; he was "not in attendance." He is expected at Dallas City Hall tomorrow, though, when Mike Rawlings officially announces that he's running for mayor: Meghan Fitzsimmons at Allyn Media sends word this afternoon that the Cowboys legend will join Rawlings in the Flag Room for "a very important campaign announcement."

Also on the invite list: Pettis Norman (ah, another ex-Cowboys great) and Dallas Citizens Council member Arcilia Acosta, whose construction company, says here, "is a current general member of several of the largest construction programs in Dallas/Fort Worth," including "as a general partner of the $1.3 billion DISD Bond Program." Ah. But who's Hollywood Henderson supporting?

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
