$10,000

Just a few weeks after we pulled into the parking lot of the former AMC Grand off Northwest Highway and Stemmons, we get word this morning: The space, newly rechristened the AmStar 14, is about to open. Curtain goes up October 14, says the missive, at which point the one-time Most Important Theater Ever, which shuttered last year after AMC had a falling out with the building’s owner, will become “a state-of-the-art, 14-auditorium, all-digital theater.”

The remaining 10 auditoriums of the existing theatre are in the process of being converted into Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, which when it opens later this fall, will offer residents of Dallas a distinctive, one-stop entertainment shop, boasting the latest Hollywood blockbusters, down-home cooking and high-energy live bands all under one roof!

Take that, Lowest Greenville.
