Halloween is fun. Walking around the neighborhood, following your kids, a bucket in their hand and perhaps a stiff drink in yours. Maybe you’re going out and getting a little wild and crazy without any kids around? That’s great too. And on top of that, October 31 falls on a Friday this year, so those with a Monday through Friday work week don’t have to worry about that late-night candy-induced heartburn keeping them up too late.
And hey, the weather might be pretty good to boot.
Don’t get too excited yet. You might jinx it. Maybe we just jinxed it. But we’re liking what we see so far from the Halloween forecast for Friday night in North Texas.
We’re feeling confident in our hopes because local weather guru and WFAA meteorologist Pete Delkus says it’s OK to.
“Trick or Treat forecast is a TREAT! While Friday morning will be chilly with lows in the 40s, the afternoon and evening will be more comfortable. Sunset is at 6:38,” Delkus declared in a Tuesday X post.
The graphic Delkus included in his post noted that the temperature will fall from 68 to 62 degrees on Friday evening between 5 and 9 p.m. If that’s not Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup eating weather, we don’t know what is.
But hey, Halloween doesn’t fall on Friday night every year. Literally. We may adore Delkus, but i
t’s worth getting an authoritative second opinion on this vital forecast. That’s why we checked the National Weather Service Fort Worth’s X feed while we were at it. Sorry, Delkus, it’s just that important.
A sweeter second opinion, we’ve never heard.
“Looks like good weather for trick-or-treating Friday night,” the Oct. 28 post reads. “Early evening temperatures will be in the 60s, falling quickly into the 50s. Expect light winds, partly cloudy skies, and no rain!”
That exclamation point was theirs, but we feel that way too.
