We know one of these days in the next two weeks Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is going to call a press conference at which he'll announce his intent to induct former receiver Drew Pearson into the team's Ring of Honor.
Good. Not a more deserving candidate.
But ... not so fast? Or, perhaps, even faster?
Jones has refused to confirm Pearson's name, though he has said repeatedly there will be a new member in the Ring of Honor this season. Then last week after the Cowboys' pre-season opener victory over the Broncos, the owner began playing coy, hinting at another Cowboy who just might receive immortality.
Yep, one of the team's best all-time offensive linemen will be a no-brainer Hall of Famer and would allow Jones to induct one of "his" and one of "their" players at the same time.
Perfect, because although Jerry respects his history, he cherishes getting credit even more.
