$10,000

OK, so the Lily Pad eatery in Main Street Garden wasn’t open Saturday for the Homegrown shindig as originally hoped for. Not to worry, says Kourtny Garrett, senior vice president of marketing for DowntownDallas: She tells Unfair Park this morning that Doug Brown — the acclaimed chef behind Beyond the Box catering — will have the cafe up and running by June 1. “The only pending thing is assuming their city inspections go well,” Garrett says, “and they expect them to.”

Hours haven’t yet been posted, but Garrett says the Lily Pad will do breakfast (tacos, muffins, etc.), lunch (salads, wraps, tapas) and dinner (ditto) seven days a week. The concept, she says, is “sustainable street food.” (I’ve left messages for Brown, who’s a bit busy this morning.)

Garrett’s also quick to remind: “And they’ll have beer and wine. That’s an important note.” Yes, yes it is.
