While the Texas Rangers seem dead-set on trading franchise icon Michael Young, fears about Josh Hamilton leaving were subdued today when the team announced a two-year contract through 2012 with the American League MVP.
The deal, worth $24 million, allows both sides to avoid heading to arbitration next week. This new contract, obviously, doesn't keep Hamilton, 29, and the Rangers from talking long-long-term deals, but gives a little elbow room to the process.
