I brought the boy into the office today. We had no choice -- even he was getting cabin fever, and better Unfair Park HQ than another day staring down his LEGOs. But now this from 3700 Ross:

Breaking news: Dallas ISD schools will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011. Administrative offices will be open tomorrow, but on a delayed basis.

On the Facebook, the reception has been mixed, from "Am so glad you guys are putting the kids safety first" to "im sad." Pretty sure that last one's a parent. Or a straight-A student.

Update: Anyone else see the latest National Weather Service forecast? I see the snow chances have gone up for tonight and Friday, when the forecast high's dropped down to 28. And what happened to the 50s initially forecast for the weekend? Sunday's now ... 46?

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
