The current issue of Sports Illustrated has a story on Steve Fleming, the firebrand Lewisville coach who tried to change the nature of the Special Olympics and was kicked out in the process. Since our story on Fleming appeared in the paper version of Unfair Park last month, he has received calls from both a Philadelphia radio station and a national Special Olympics representative, both wanting to hear his side of the story.
For all the press on the dispute -- The Dallas Morning News broke the story in August -- Fleming doubts anything will change. But he says the fight is not over. “It’s sad what’s happened to the Lewisville delegation since I was kicked out,” he says. “It’s nowhere near what it used to be.” --Jesse Hyde
