Texas Rangers' Bats Go Cold; You Growing Uneasy?

I know the big news of the day regarding your Texas Rangers will be this deal about the new owner and all - Mark Cuban vs.Nolan Ryan - but quietly the baseball team is tip-toeing close to a slump.

For now it's a funk, and when you build a nine-game cushion you can absorb a bump in the road or two. But again last night the offense was anemic in a 3-2 loss to the lowly Seattle Mariners.

Elvis Andrus isn't hitting and Michael Young is wandering about and Vladimir Guerrero is in a relative cool spot and the Rangers have stopped scoring and, not surprisingly, lost three of four.

Two days after getting only five hits in a loss to the Angels the Rangers managed only four hits Tuesday night. In their last 27 innings, that's 14 hits.

Something is amiss.

Fortunately the Angels and A's lost last night and there's zero cause to locate the panic button, much less reach for it. But it's 16 days since the Rangers scored more than seven runs in a game and over their last 12 games they've been held to three runs or less nine times.

When the bats wake up, we can go back to getting a good night's sleep.
