TO: ALL MEDIA OUTLETS
FROM: TEXAS RANGERS COMMUNICATIONS
SUBJECT: HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCEMENT -- TODAY
The Texas Rangers Baseball Club will announce their 2007 Hall of Fame Class TODAY, June 21, at noon in the media interview room.
All local media are invited to attend the press conference.
Far as I can tell, this is the complete list thus far -- a whopping eight, and only five of the men listed actually played baseball in a Rangers uniform. Doesn't appear anyone's been inducted since 2004; lose interest much? So, any guesses who's getting in? And, no, Sluggin' Sammy Sosa doesn't count....though, at this rate, you are willing to take what you can get. Me, I'm going with Will Clark. No, wait -- Mickey Tettleton. Billy Sample maybe? Or Jim Kern? Fine -- Oscar Gamble it is. --Robert Wilonsky
Update: You know, I was gonna guess this pick but decided, nah, it's way too obvious. But the latest inductee into Your Texas Rangers' Hall of Fame is ... Rusty Greer, who, hey, we just mentioned yesterday.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
