Gizmodo Wednesday had an anonymous tell-all from former employees of what it describes as “the most corrupt Apple store in America.”
Where might that store be, you ask? NorthPark. And how did the NorthPark Apple store earn such a notable distinction? Well, allegedly, according to some anonymous guy (so you know this must be the real stuff):
The general manager made the store sell discounted computers to a plastic surgeon in exchange for a stomach stapling procedure, among other transgressions.
The Genius staff “wildly and shamelessly exploited the store’s lax and easily defrauded return and exchange policies for a virtually unlimited supply of Apple hardware,” many of which they destroyed for the fun of it.
The staff at a nearby call center “drink whiskey and do coke all night.”
For irritating customers, they would pour whiskey into customers’ Macs, erasing their hard drives, or use the hard drives as skateboards.
I’ve been in an Apple store exactly once, and it was the one in NorthPark. The Genius who helped me was an asshole. None of this surprises me.
