If this comes as a surprise (I first hinted at this way back in October
) you haven't been paying attention, but today - officially - the new radio home of the Dallas Cowboys is105.3 The Fan
Funny, seems like just yesterday we were dissecting how The Ticket would treat America's Team.
In a grand gala out in Jonestown Coliseum, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones - long on the NFL's broadcast committee and not one to hitch his wagon to just any old thing - announced an agreement with CBS Radio he called "unprecedented."
The deal, for at least 10 years, includes plans for a 24-hour Cowboys station on 105.3 The Fan's family of HD signals.
"This is the longest deal I've ever negotiated with any partner," Jones said. "That should tell you all you need to know right there. I want The Fan's name to be synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys."
The highlights ...
*Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg remain in the booth, along with Kristi Scales on the sidelines.
*While Sham and Mickey Spagnola's team reports will also move to The Fan, The Ticket - the Cowboys' former home - has tagged Todd Archer of Dallas' Only Daily as its new Cowboys reporter.
*The 24-hour Cowboys station - to be 105.3-3 FM - plans to air original broadcasts of past Super Bowls and even old coaches shows and original content. Said CBS Senior VP David Henry, "We're searching every corner for old reel-to-reels." Of course, you'll need an HD radio for that.

*Powered by The Fan's 100,000-watt signal, Cowboys' night games - like their Sunday night stadium-opener on Sept. 20 - can now actually be heard from Waco to the Red River to Abilene to Texarkana and all points in between. Even if you don't like The Fan, you have to like its coverage. "I'm excited about the signal," Jones said. "At the end of the day, this is all about accessibility for our fans."
*Joked Henry of the Cowboys' streak of 13 seasons without a playoff win: "We're gonna change that. I blame the past on The Ticket."
*The new Cowboys' flagship station hits the ground running, hosting the team's official NFL Draft party Saturday at the Arlington Convention Center.
Oh, and just for fun, took this pic of the new digs just hours ago ...
