Independent Journalism in Dallas Needs You
We need to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
At this very moment, KXAS-Channel 5 is reporting, students from Skyline, Sunset, Kimball, Adamson and Molina high schools are gathering in Kiest Park in Oak Cliff t0 protest Congressional proposals that would strengthen immigration policies. (That, or to get outta class.) Speaking of, my cousin (well, my aunt’s third husband’s son, but you get the point) was supposed to join us for a birthday party Saturday afternoon. But he had to stick around the restaurant he manages–won’t say which, but it does rhyme with Gacaroni Mrill–because just as the place was getting packed at dinner time, most of his employees walked out also in protest of the planned policy changes, leaving him to handle the crush all by his lonesome, more or less. –Robert Wilonsky
