Back in May, Kourtny Garrett, senior vice president of marketing for DowntownDallas, told us that come autumn the organization would be hosting an “outdoor movie series” on the Main Street Garden lawn. Now, the official MSG site says the series is “coming soon,” but Downtown Dallas just sent word: It kicks off October 9, a Saturday. Problem is, they’re not sure what to screen.
Hence, this just-posted poll, which asks: “What 4 films would you like to see at Main Street Garden’s first outdoor movie series in October?” Your choices: Poltergeist, Little Shop of Horrors, Gremlins, The Lost Boys, Stand By Me, The Goonies, E.T., Flight of the Navigator, The Last Starfighter, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, St. Elmo’s Fire, Across the Universe, Where the Wild Things Are, Into the Wild and Almost Famous. I tried leaving Kourtny a message on her full-up voice mail to see if she’d like to go through my DVD collection and start the voting over. I kid! Ish. Still — I’d have opened with RoboCop. But only because some of it was filmed right there. Then, maybe, JFK. Or Naughty Dallas. What?
