Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
Even though tickets go on sale Tuesday, there's been no official announcement concerning the famous faces suiting up for the 2010 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, which will take place February 12 at the Dallas Convention Center during the three-day Jam Session to be held in advance of the February 14 All-Star game at Jerry Jones's EnormoDome. So, allow me to break the news.
Ahyiana Deldridge-Owens in NBA Marketing Communications tells Unfair Park this afternoon that, so far, the confirmed list includes Rush Hour's Chris Tucker, the apparently newly single Chuck star Zachary Levi, rapper-actor Common, teevee's Dr. Oz, former Rocket-Spur-Laker Robert Horry, pro golfer Anthony Kim and, but of course, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Deldridge-Owens says more names will be announced "within the week" as the NBA awaits further confirmations. There's also something involving Miranda Lambert -- not sure just what quite yet.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
