Former Unfair Park-er Matt Pulle this morning asks a familiar question: Why doesn’t Dallas County post political candidates’ campaign information online? The City of Dallas does it; the State of Texas does it. But if you wanna peek at a county candidate’s campaign finances, well, you must put on your fedora and duke it out with Belloq.
The reason, of course, is that the Texas Election Code exempts county candidates from making their info available online. But why come? For that, Matt asks Fort Worth Democratic State Rep. Lon Burnam, who says, in short, Didn’t wanna piss off anyone. Good answer. –Robert Wilonsky
