Back in April ’09, Del Taco spokesperson Barbara Caruso told us she’d let us know in “the next 60-90 days” if and when the chain was returning to Dallas after a lengthy absence. Took a little longer than that, but This Morning’s Official Announcement concerning Denton and McKinney locations forthcoming follows a Sunday story in The Orange County Register outlining the pending onslaught — 70 to 80 eateries in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth sooner than later.

Reports The Register, “Del Taco exited the Lone Star state under previous owners in the 1980s. But the company began showing interest in re-entering the state last year by scouting territories and conducting consumer surveys among local foodies.” (Names, I need names.) Which reminds me: How’s that Carl’s Jr. coming on Lemmon? Shoulda opened in April. Alas, still under construction.
