Have you ever wondered who it is that puts the Dallas Observer together day in and day out? Not in the “who the hell writes this stuff” way. We mean in a more supportive fashion, one in tune with the peace and joy of the holiday season. And the drinking.
Our editorial staff is small, but we’re backed by a cast of dozens of freelancers who employ their wide knowledge of the city’s culture, arts, music and food to produce the stories that make the Observer a resource that hundreds of readers have contributed money to this year.
As we wrap up our winter membership drive, aiming to raise $30,000 in support, we’re bringing our members, staff and freelancers together for a members-only holiday happy hour.
How to Get an Invite
Observer members can join us for complimentary drinks at The Grapevine Bar, 2213 Butler St., for happy hour on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m.
Space is limited, so if you are already a member, watch your email inbox for the RSVP. Not a member? Become one by giving any amount to support our journalism, and you’ll get an invite.
This year, make your gift count –
Invest in local news that matters.
Our work is funded by readers like you who make voluntary gifts because they value our work and want to see it continue. Make a contribution today to help us reach our $30,000 goal!

Hang out with our team and raise a glass to local journalism. Editors, staff writers and freelancers will be there, so you can put faces to the names behind our news, reviews, restaurant recommendations and opinions.
About that … remember its deck the halls, not the person who has made light of the prospect of tearing down City Hall or wrote recent, well-read stories about anger at a small school in Oak Cliff, a scrap over feral cats or, God help us, the Cowboys. Not everyone was happy with those stories, but we believe telling them is important for our community, and apparently you do, too.
Your readership and backing are vital to allow us to keep telling them. So, let’s celebrate the season together and get ready for a new year of the sort of journalism we all agree matters to our community.
