By July 19, 1802 Greenville Ave. will no longer be a boozy tribute to tiki culture, but a shell of a beloved bar space waiting for its next tenant.
Swizzle announced its closure last week on Thursday, June 12, in a heartfelt Facebook post. The tiki bar began as a pop-up, became a brick-and-mortar in 2020, and now, in 2025, is reverting back to its roots.
“The brick and mortar may be closing, but Swizzle isn’t going anywhere. We have been operating as Swizzle for 10 years and we don’t plan on stopping now. It started out as a pop-up and will continue as a POP-UP AND CATERING company. We will be moving forward with food and cocktail catering for parties, business events, lunches, weddings, holiday parties and everything in between. You can always make an inquiry at SwizzleDallas@gmail.com”, reads the Facebook post.

With any favorite watering hole or restaurant closure, our first instinct is to ask why, but the staff has pleaded guests not to. Everyone’s hearts are breaking over the closure.
“As to the, ‘why,’ think of a reason, or ten, they are probably all correct,” the post reads. “We opened in 2020…take a good look around at your favorite small businesses and support them as much as possible, nothing is getting easier for them. They need you now more than ever.”
It’s not breaking news that bars and restaurants have a short shelf life in this city, and that as each month passes, it seems another long-term or favorite closes at the expense of increasing rent costs and other extenuating circumstances.
“‘But what if you tried…’ Please don’t ask. WE HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY to change this course against the waves of circumstance beating down on us and our incredible staff. We have all gone through more than y’all will ever hear about, because our struggles are not what escapism is about. Our goal was to bring you the best tiki experience we could dream of and I think we did just that.”

After hearing this news, we all need a Q.B. Cooler. If you’re unfamiliar, Swizzle ranks all its cocktails on a strength chart from 1 to 4. The Q.B. Cooler, powered by dark Jamaican rum, is a four, described on the menu as “call an Uber, not your ex,” and due to its strength, it has an order limit of two.
They closed the Facebook post with a heartfelt farewell.
“The Swizzlenauts have all been exceptional talents and we are inspired by your creativity and Ohana spirit. Our current crew has been riding the wave of uncertainty with us and we are SO grateful for all of you, more than I could express in words,” the post continued. “WE LOVE YOU. ALL OF YOU.
“We have built up an amazing DFW tiki community over the last 10 years and we thank all of you for your love and support over the years. We got to see this dream come true, not everyone can say that they did that, and you have been there beside us the whole time. THANK YOU for everything!”
Swizzle will remain open until July 19, when it officially transforms into a pop-up experience again.
