The Marquee Club, a new Highland Park Village restaurant and lounge from Twomey Concepts, has bumped back its opening date.

A press release issued this summer suggested the group behind The Common Table and Loft 610 would open The Marquee Club by late fall. But executive chef Tre Wilcox, who’s currently helming the kitchen at Loft 610, told City of Ate in an exclusive interview today that the restaurant is now scheduled to open the third week of January 2011.

Wilcox didn’t reveal any reasons for the delay, but The Common Table had a rocky start this summer, with professional and amateur critics panning its food. Wilcox vowed The Marquee Club won’t disappoint.

“I am excited about the project, but it is a very serious one,” Wilcox said. “Highland Park will have very high expectations. We have got to deliver.”

Wilcox, who will appear on Top Chef All-Stars this December, told us the restaurant’s seasonal menu will focus on contemporary European and Mediterranean cuisine. “A portion of the entree menu will be a steakhouse style, pick the steak and sides kind of thing,” he says.

Wilcox is especially proud of a planned dish featuring duck foie gras, crispy duck breast and a duck confit crepe with huckleberry maple syrup.
