North Texas residents can now look forward to new H-E-B stores opening in Irving, Forney and possibly Mesquite.
For years, the Texas-born grocer has served Central and South Texas. In 2021, the brand finally announced its expansion in the North Texas area, and since then, it has been unstoppable. The San Antonio-headquartered brand currently runs stores in multiple North Texas cities, including Frisco, Plano, Allen and McKinney.
What do people love about H-E-B? Well, perhaps it’s their quality products, such as store-made fresh tortillas, in-house chips and Creamy Creations ice cream. Or maybe it’s their kindness and commitment to the community that resonates with true Southern hospitality.
As the grocer keeps expanding in North Texas, local residents are excited to see its next step. Below is information regarding the company’s latest opening plan.
Irving
In late August, the company disclosed the acquisition of property in Irving with plans to open a store in the Las Colinas area. Situated at the intersection of Interstate 635 and Olympus Boulevard, this location is expected to open in late 2026.The chain currently has Central Market and Joe V's (divisions of H-E-B) in Dallas. The new store, which marks the first H-E-B location in Dallas County, will serve Irving, Coppell, Grapevine and Dallas residents and is expected to create around 700 job opportunities in the area. The company is planning to start construction later this year.
Forney
Earlier this month, the grocer announced that construction at its Forney location is set to begin. This new store is at U.S. Highway 80 and Gateway Boulevard, covering almost 131,000 square feet. Forney residents can anticipate the opening in early 2026. The company will share more details as the opening nears.Forney, located to the east of Dallas in Kaufman County, is one of the 10 fastest-growing cities in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Between 2022 and 2023, Forney’s population increased by 10.4%, which makes it a new hotspot for major retailers. The city just welcomed a new Tom Thumb last month and is being considered by Costco for future location, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Mesquite
H-E-B bought a 25.6-acre property in Mesquite earlier this week “in anticipation of future growth in North Texas,” according to WFAA. The site is at the South of Interstate 20 near FM 741 in Kaufman County and is close to cities such as Forney and Crandall. The brand has yet to confirm the purpose of the newly purchased land. However, WFAA reports that public documents reveal that a grocery store development is anticipated at this site.Mesquite is home to about 150,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Other locations expected to open in 2025 include H-E-B stores in Prosper, Melissa and Rockwall, along with Joe V's shops in Dallas (Buckner Boulevard) and Irving.
