Labeled "Kardashian Jenner Week" (April 7-12) by Crumbl, a six-pack with each flavor is $27.97. Alone, each cookie is $4.99, with Kris’ running an additional $.99 and Kourtney’s an additional $1.99. (That tracks, right?) Each cookie is served in a light pink specialty box with the women's signatures printed on the sides.
We don’t know what the Venn diagram crossover between Kardashian fans and Crumbl regulars is, but it’s the kind of collaboration that we can’t believe hasn’t already happened. Being the brave journalists that we are, we tried each flavor of Kardashian cookies so you, our loyal readers, don’t have to. The following review was written in the midst of a sugar rush, so don’t hold anything against us.
We visited Crumbl around noon on Thursday and were greeted by a small line of folks all ordering cookies from the series. By the time we got to the counter (kounter?), the Kim and Kourtney cookies (kookies?) were sold out. We ordered the other four for the time being.
Kylie’s Pink Confetti Sugar Cookie
We started things off with the youngest, Kylie Jenner: a sugar cookie with frosting and sprinkles. This is the only chilled cookie of the series, which helps offset the heaviness of Crumbl’s style of thick cookies. Kylie’s cookie tastes like a highly elevated and moist version of those store-bought frosted cookies — you know, the type: school parties, birthdays and family reunions. The kind of cookies that taste so good but linger for hours and make you feel sick. This was one of those cookies, but better, but also $4.99 for a single cookie.Khloe’s Cookies and Cream Skillet Cookie
Khloe’s cookie caught us a bit off guard. At first glance, it looks like a thin chocolate cookie with two scoops of ice cream on top. We’re nowhere close to the peak Dallas summer temperatures, but we know for sure that two scoops of ice cream wouldn’t have made it through a car ride from Crumbl to Ascension Coffee (where we ordered the strongest pour-over they had, to offset the sweetness of course). The scoops are just thick icing that somehow remains intact even while eating it. Ah, the wonders of modern science. Anyway, this cookie was pretty gross. By design, the texture is pure mush, and those idyllic-looking ice cream scoops channel mashed potatoes.
Kendall’s Cookie Dough Cupcake Cookie
Sitting at 1,000 calories — the most of the series — Kendall’s cookie dough cupcake cookie is a monster. The cookie itself looks more traditional; it comes topped with cookie dough chunks and a swirl of cream frosting that gives it a cupcake designation on technicality. This one is tasty, we admit, but we also ate the equivalent of one forkful, and it felt like the equivalent of 10 homemade cookies eaten all at once. Will microdosing desserts be the next trend?Kris’ Classic Yellow Layer Cake
This is not a cookie, but an absolute behemoth. Kris' cookie, standing at nearly quadruple the height of the other cookies, lives up to the pop culture matriarch's outsized personality. It features two cake layers with a heaping of super-sweet chocolate frosting in the middle and on top. If you’re thinking just about aesthetics, this one looked the best. The taste, however, was very subpar. If you want a chocolate cake on the cheap, Kroger is more than fine. Physically, we couldn’t take more than one bite of this one.About 15 minutes away, another Crumbl was fully stocked with Kim and Kourtney’s cookies. For the sake of completing the job and intrepid gonzo food reporting, we made the drive and ordered the final two. Inside, two exasperated employees took our order behind the counter.
“It’s been so crazy,” one told us with a sigh.
“Wish us luck,” said the other. “It’s only here for two more days.”
Kim’s Snickerdoodle Crumb Cake Cookie
This was the best cookie by far and the only one we wouldn’t label as too sweet for its own good, or ours. The soft cinnamon cookie base would’ve been delicious on its own. It was Crumbl-ified with a drizzle of white frosting and more cookie crumbs. We could see this one at the State Fair. Could the Kardashians be the new Nevins?Kourtney’s Flourless Chocolate Cake
We saved the most expensive for last. Coming in at $6.98 before tax, Kourtney’s flourless chocolate cake is served in a small tin and topped with a couple of raspberries. If we weren’t briefed beforehand, we wouldn’t have been able to tell the cake was flourless. This one tastes like something you'd find at a cute bakery as opposed to a cultural and financial juggernaut like Crumbl. The berries were amazing as the only fresh thing we’d eaten in a while. The Kardashian-Jenner cookies are still available through the weekend before the company's Easter lineup rolls out on Monday.
