There were many sad closures in 2024, and we recently came across a note that Tina's Continental in Deep Ellum had closed. No note. Website gone. What happened? An investigation was in order.
Their Google Maps page does in fact sport the dreaded red line that reads "permanently closed," but if you're lucky it doesn't always mean something is gone for good.
We reached out to the point person for the historic Continental Gin Building, where Tina's opened in early 2023, and they confirmed that the smallest cocktail bar in Dallas is officially closed. There was no response from UNCO Management, who owned Tina's, and also no word on what is next for the space.
Although, it's likely to get scooped up fast as it shares a lobby with Tatsu, Dallas' first and only Michelin-starred restaurant.
Tina's Continental opened just shy of two years ago using inspiration from the Lincoln Continental Mark V, a car from the 1970s that, at the time, could be customized by the customer or luxury designers.
Inside the bar's mere 800-square-foot space, the dark denim blue walls, pale yellow chairs and photos were all taken from Bill Blass' Edition of the car released in 1977.
The menu operated the same way as one would have customized their car back in the '70s: You could customize a gin or vodka martini of your choice, choose the dryness and if you wanted it dirty, shaken, stirred, the whole nine yards. Run the math, and that's 448 different ways they could make your martini.
Otherwise, their "Designer Cocktails" are a done-for-you option created by the team at Tina's.
Tina's Continental was on our list of Top 100 Bars in 2024. Their Moody Bleu Martini was featured in D Magazine's “The 8 Best Things We Drank in Dallas in 2023" and was also named "Best Bar" in the 2023 Eater Dallas awards.
