Yelp releases lists like these annually, covering hundreds of different topics. For 2025's "Top 50 Donut Shops in the US," the website pulled from reviews by "Yelp Elites," an application-based club of frequent and verifiable Yelp users.
Two doughnut shops in North Texas were included in the top 50, alongside a third Texas storefront in Round Rock. On 2023's top 100 list, Twinkle Donuts in the Colony and A&H Donuts were included, but didn't make this year's Elite top 50 list.
Golden Crown Cookies & Mochi Donuts
8700 N. Tarrant Pkwy # 103, North Richland Hills Located in North Richland Hills, just above Fort Worth and Arlington, Golden Crown offers desserts of many varieties, including ultra-thick cookies, and milk and fruit teas. But it's their doughnuts that land them the No. 15 spot on the list and a 4.8-star rating on Yelp. Golden Crown makes their doughnuts with mochi, a traditional Japanese rice cake that sticks together in small spongy balls upon baking. The result is a lighter take on the doughnut, with a thinner size and unique flavors like ube, which is a purple variety of yam native to the Philippines, and pandan, a spiky tropical plant found in Southeast Asia.

Detour Doughnuts and Coffee
8161 FM 423, Frisco Landing at No. 23 on the top 50, Detour in Frisco takes the traditional doughnut options and elevates them in both presentation and creativity. Of course, you can order your standard glazed or chocolate sprinkle here, and it'll be great. But where else are you getting a specialty fig and mascarpone doughnut, or a cream-filled tiramisu? Yelp's list is sure to mention items like a brûléed banana cream and a Thai tea glaze doughnut, all of which culminate in a consensus 4.7-star rating on the site.Congratulations to our two local representatives for their placement on such a prestigious list. You know, it was decided by the Yelp "Elites" after all. At any rate, it’s a good reminder to wake up a little earlier on our next morning commute and to start our day with something sweet.
