Game Show Battle Rooms rolls out the red carpet with a new look

Game Show Battle Rooms is a high-energy game show experience, and the company just leveled up. It’s also being nominated for two Best of Dallas Readers’ Choice Awards: Best Family Attraction and Best Immersive Experience.

Thanks to recent renovations, the magic starts when you walk in the front doors, even before you enter the studios.

“Ultimately, we want to have that wow factor from the very beginning to the very end,” says Scott Hovland, general manager of the Farmers Branch Battle Room. “We want to kind of set that stage in our own way by having the large props in the big rooms. But also, when you walk in the doors, we want you to have that same experience.”

Prior to the recent renovations, the aesthetic of the lobby did not match the extravagance of the studios. Only upon walking into the studios was it evident how immersive the experience would be.

Now the lobby gives competitors a taste of what to expect once the games start.

“We literally rolled the red carpet out in this case,” Hovland says. The short walk between the lobby and the studios that was once pale laminate wood flooring is now lined with a bright red carpet.

That’s not the only change, however. Above the doors of each of the three studios hangs an “on air” sign that lights up when the room is being used. The once-grayish flooring is now a warmer, richer brown, and the walls are bedecked with dynamic tiling and neon signs for photo ops.

“The entire experience from start to finish now is cohesive in a way that it wasn’t before,” Hovland observes. “When you first walked in previously, you kind of were like, ‘Oh, okay, this is interesting, I guess,’ and then you get into the arenas and you’re like, ‘Oh, I see what we signed up for.’”

It’s clear that you’re in for a good time from the very beginning. There are two different game show experiences to choose from: Classic Showdown and Primetime Showdown.

The Classic Showdown is more trivia-aligned, requiring a higher level of intellect, random knowledge and a bit of luck. The Primetime Showdown is much more physical. This experience includes fast-paced games that require coordination and teamwork. There truly is something for everyone between the two options.
