Leading up to September’s Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we’re sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.
Any dessert at Remedy could make this list of favorite dishes. Those massive pies, served in wedges the size of Rhode Island. The bonkers sundaes, which rotate regularly and are frequently named after local friends of the chefs.
But I’m going to defer to an expert opinion here: my father’s. My dad’s had about five thousand bowls of ice cream in his life, and when he’s in town, the Remedy sundae he wants is The Bob. That eloquent name is a tribute to The Bob’s blue-collar recipe. It’s a chocolate sundae with caramel — and potato chips.
Sweet-salty is a known and beloved combo, of course. Sea salt caramel gelato has become a hit just about everywhere, as have chocolate bars with salt or chili peppers. The folks at Remedy took that flavor combination to its logical conclusion by adding potato chips to their sundae. The Bob has survived on its rotating menu for a long time, but given the concoction’s undying popularity, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. There will be a rebellion when they stop serving it. Also, my dad will stop visiting me.
